HUMIDITY 18" X 24"

Picture
"Humidity" is a blend of primer, acrylic, & irredescent. Meant to convey a sense of settling and peace as the sun sets on a muggy May night.  In my mind is where a great deal of my paintings live; sometimes it takes some time to blend the right peach tones or adjust the light source of a piece, internally, before I ever pick up a brush.  Humidity stayed with me for about 5 months before I finished conceptualizing it.  I must say, I was very pleased with this finished piece. I may attempt a reproduction with no trees in the background. We'll see...

"Mellow Land"

Picture
In this piece I really wanted to stretch myself in water related art-just a bit. I thought to myself "what would oil dumped in lake water look like if the color was turned up reaaaally high?" In my mind, the grass is stained red, purples and yellows and midnight blues all mindle then separate as if they're from a dripping painting or a scene from "What Dreams May Lie"

"Tropical Lizard"

Picture
This was a difficult piece to complete--at first.  The client, whose nickname is 'Lizard', left the design of the piece all in my hands.  That meant color choice, placement, scene selection, 'mood', elements, etc. were all my decision.  In researching blue toned lizards, their climates tend to indicate lush tropical environments.  Also knowing the nature of most reptiles had to be considered.  Most small creatures wouldn't venture out at this level unless it needed to get warm, or needed food.  So, I decided that this particular scene with Andy (yes I named the lizard) had to take place  just before sunset & right after a heavy rainfall.  The thin tree in the background, indicate a lot of water absorbtion and wind. While the lush greenery tells andy there must be an abundance of food.

The size of this piece is 18 inches long and 18 inches wide on a 1/2 inch side stapled canvas.  Irredescent was used to indicate upward grass growth.  Other views available below.

"Evaporation" 40X30 in

Picture
ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. K. CROSEFORD
This canvas piece was a custom order for a client who's favorite color is purple! She showed me a digital image of butterflies with a blended bright & dark splatter background and this is my reproduction of it.  You can order a $25.00 poster size reproduction from  the print shop (click here).

"Enigmatic 3" 18X24 in

Picture
All rights reserved. K. Croseford
Acrylic on stretched canvas.  This was a custom order for a client who wanted a red hot and icy blue abstract skull painting.  This was very fun to do.  I painted the subject slightly tilted toward the right.  As the eye washes over the canvas, the skull seems to move with the viewer.   Posters availbable UNDER $35.00!!!

48X24 "Forbidden Fruit" Number sold: 2
I painted this in remembrance of the song "Strange Fruit" by Billy Holiday. ("Southern trees they bear a strange fruit...blood on the leaves & blood at the root..." remember?) I wanted each tree to present itself as a memorial to those lost during the relocation of Native Americans (trail of tears), the attempted genocide of the jewish people (through concentration camps) & the terrorism that afrians endured in early america (slavery). Each drop at the bottom of each tree represents the remnants of that race. No one is every lost forever, the survivors (those drops) tell their stories. We must not forget this or forget them.

"Dream" 48X24 in

Picture
ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. K. CROSEFORD
This piece by far is my favorite image.  I painted this because of these very brightly colored uneven squares that reaccured in my dreams.  A client saw this and fell in love with it.  She said she mounted it above her bed in place of a headboard. What a refreshing design idea!

"Walking Home" 24X48

Picture
ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
Acrylic on stretched canvas. Custom order.  This piece was a client specific, custom design requested by a  co-worker of mine.  It was truly a joy to paint because it was so dark yet so  bright.  I could see myself as a kid walking in that dewy wet grass on some late  afternoon. I'm glad to say it has a new home in Missouri!

Seed and Harvest 18X24in.

Picture
Acrylic on stretched canvas. Custom order.  Client also requested "Family is Everything" (below).

"Fish Scales"

Picture
This was the first in a series of block paintings. I used metallic paints in warm variables of pink and orange to mimic the skin of a trout.
